Lower River 1:00 - 4:00P.M. 360CFS
I had a last minute meeting that was canceled around 11:00 so operation look at the radar, look at the TVA app, and call the neighbor and beg them to let the dog out fishing trip was in the works. With the overcast skies, sight fishing was out of the question so fished a size 18 unweighted sulphur soft hackle and dropped off a size 20 black soft hackle. Caught 5 bows on the sz20
and 4 browns on the sz 18. Most of the hookups were in the softer water just as the tailouts were starting to slow down and gain some depth. One thing I have started doing is tying my soft hackles on a TMC 200R hook so when I slowly raise my rod over a 1-2-3 count, it acts almost like a circle hook and I have doubled my hookup ratio. I think paying the neighbor kid $10 to let the dog out was a wise investment.
